    • 30th St and University Ave – this corner is the heart of North Park
    • Park Blvd between Adams Ave and Meade Blvd is the heart of University Heights
    • Vermont St will dead end so continue onto the Vermont St Bridge over the 163 freeway and Washington St towards University Ave
    • After crossing the Vermont St Bridge you will be back on Vermont St and in "The Hub" shopping center with a Trader Joe's off to the right
    • University Ave and Park Blvd -- cross Park Blvd and continue east on University Ave where you can either go over or under the bridge, both ways are still University Ave going towards Alabama St

    There are so many places to sit and eat, drink, hang out, and people watch on our walks that you’ll have to do some of your own searches to find what best suits you. However, below are some of our go-to places on this walk:


    North Park

    • Olympic Cafe -- amazing Mediterranean food
    • City Tacos -- delicious and unique twist on tacos
    • Pretzels and Pints -- great place to hang out with friends
    • Crazee Burger -- yes, crazee! Along with your standard burger they also have huge assortment of exotic meats including elk, camel, wild boar, ostrich, and more!
    • The Water Lady  – this is where we get our water. They are so awesome I had to give them a shout out!
    • Subterranean Coffee Boutique -- great hot matcha green tea lattes with oat milk


    University Heights

    • Blackmarket Bakery -- the Southern Comfort sandwich is awesome
    • Cantina Mayahuel -- amazing margaritas and food cooked right in front of you
    • Bahn Thai -- best Thai food I've had in San Diego. This is the original location


    Hillcrest

    • Prager Brothers Artisan Breads – amazing organic bakery, so grab a sandwich to eat while you walk
    • The Merrow – super cool dive bar with live music

      • Upas St and Alabama St – cross Alabama St and veer slightly right to continue west on Upas St and go down the dead end street that has a “Not A Through Street'' sign for about 15 yards. When you reach the dead end take the pedestrian path to the left and head down steep walkway towards Florida St
      • Balboa Park -- stroll and explore Balboa Park
      • Fifth Ave and University Ave – this corner is the heart of Hillcrest
      • University Ave and Park Blvd -- cross Park Blvd and continue east on University Ave where you can either go over or under the bridge, both ways are still University Ave going towards 30th St
      • University Ave and 30th St – this corner is the heart of North Park

      Balboa Park -- Things we have done, especially when our kids were young, include:

      • Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre
      • Japanese Friendship Garden
      • Fleet Science Center
      • Balboa Park Miniature Railroad
      • San Diego Zoo

      Now that our kids are grown, we often will just sit, read, people watch, or just hang out before moving on


      Hillcrest

      • Sushi Deli 1 -- the place of our very first date back in 1989 where we always get the teriyaki chicken platter
      • Bronx Pizza -- seriously legit thin-crust pizza by the slice
      • Peet’s Coffee -- great place to just hang out and people watch
      • Bahn Thai -- best Thai food I've had in San Diego

        • Communal Coffee -- grab a drink and enjoy it outside
        • Grand Ole BBQ Y Asado – amazing BBQ and smoked meats with tasty and unique sides
